Homemade Baby Food

So, apparently I've joined the make it yourself, save $$, "suzie homemaker" club of some sort. Well, honestly it just feels good to know that I am helping save some $ while Rhett is out there working his booty off for our family. :)
I tried making homemade baby food with Reese when he was little but I think I put too much thought into it and it didn't turn out as good. (an overachiever if you will) So I started off with sweet potatoes with Addy (cooked 1 at a time) and went from there. I have also cooked carrots and pureed bananas. It's sooo much fun! I'm so glad I have the time and opportunity to put work and effort into what my sweet girl is eating. If you look on Gerber's package on the bananas or any foods it's just the food + water in the container. Anyone can do that, right?! Well, if I can then just about anyone can. :)
I've posted pics below of making a sweet potato...all you need is the potato, aluminum foil, an oven set at 400 degrees for 30-60 min...depends on the size of the potato, a food processor, a spoon and storage containers. I found my containers at Babies R Us and can be put in the freezer/ microwave & are BPA free, they also stack on top of each other so it uses less space in your freezer. I like them better than ice cube trays since you can take them with you. The amount I got out of the potato will last us all week.
Poke holes in potato with a fork

If you can squeeze the potato & it's soft it is done

ready for the freezer...they are 3 different sizes so the bigger ones can be split in 2 days.
