So, I've been hooked on looking at blogs to give me ideas on how to redecorate some walls and things around the house. ADDICTED is probably a better term for it. However, it's saddens me because I can no longer physically do things around the house like I want to, when I want to. For instance...I have this painting on my wall over my couch that I have begun to DESPISE (Rhett has hated it since I bought it but I couldn't resist because it was one of my first purchases for the house when we got married and it was originally $200 that I paid $60 for). It worked for the time being.
So, I've posted it for sale on Craigslist so that I can take the $ and go buy a large mirror to put over the couch. Time for a change. :)
I also found a blog Southern Hospitality that introduced a great idea to me for my kitchen. Over by my table I currently have 6 floating picture frames and I'm ready to put something different there. This is where the random plates idea comes into play. The writer of this blog collected them from different yard sales and Goodwill over a period of time. So I went to Goodwill yesterday and found some unbelievable treasures I never thought I'd find. I would've taken a pic of the 2 plates I got, along with the books for Reese (that look brand spanken new by the way), a cross/candle holder hangy thing, and a book that goes with a series I'm currently reading but that would require me to get my camera out of my already packed hospital bag and I'll admit, I'm just too darn lazy to do so. Oh and btw I only spent $9 at the Goodwill...I believe we'll be going back in another month or so to get some more plates. OH and speaking of great deals...I went with Ashley and Kristen last night to a consignment sale and found a Baby Bjorn carrier that was still in the box and looked brand new for $25!!!!! Did I just say $25 for an item that is originally $100!!! Heck, yes I did :) I was so glad that I found it too because I've been stressing for the past few days on how I'm going to get 2 kids in and out of places...other than with the 2 seater stroller that I have that makes me want to cry. It's just so big, heavy and intimidating!
Anywho, some other things I want to do includes putting frames around our builder grade bathroom mirrors to spruce them up a bit. Here is where my inspiration came from...Southern Hospitality. Along with a few other blogs I read over with Rhett because I think I've got him on board as well. He seems pretty excited about it. So maybe next month we can actually get started on some of these projects and continue making our house a home in which we love while we are here and maybe that will help it sell in a year or two.
My list of ideas to complete within the next 2 months...
~ change painting to a large mirror
~ buy/make new pillows for the couch
~ replace my boring lampshades that blend in with my walls
~ frame both bathroom mirrors with chair rail
~ change out light fixture in master bath
~ add plates to my collection for the wall in kitchen, put picture frames in our bedroom
~ hang roman blinds in the window above the kitchen sink
~ get new curtains for the living room
That should be it for now. Now it's time to focus on having this little baby next week and enjoying every minute of our last weekend as a family of 3!
