"You will be safe in His arms
You will be safe in His arms
'Cause the hands that hold the world are holding your heart
This is the promise He made
He will be with You always
When everything is falling apart
You will be safe in His arms" Safe...by Phil Wickham
It all started last Thursday, April 29th, Mike Butler, aka...Pops...was taken to the hospital. He had not been feeling good for awhile and had trouble breathing. He was moved to ICU the next day because of his fast heart rate and his blood pressure being off. Once he was there he was put on a ventilator. This helped keep his heart rate at a normal rate and helped to clear out his lungs when necessary. Over the past few days he's been waking up, blinking to show he acknowledges us, and many changes took place. I began writing this Sunday night after I went to visit him. It honestly made me (my already hormonal, emotional self) really upset to see him in that state. I knew it wasn't him because he has been and is always an outgoing, energetic, athletic, caring man who loves life and is willing to do anything for anyone who needs it. Made me realize just how much love I have for him as a father in law and how much I truly appreciate him and needed him to get better. Many prayers have gone up from not only me and my family but most importantly from friends, co-workers and people I haven't talked to or even seen in many years...for that I am SUPER grateful!!
I posted the lyrics to the song "Safe" by Phil Wickham because I heard the song on the way home from the hospital and it made me think of Pops and what he is going through. God is holding him safe in His arms and will be with Him always. He has been there watching over Pops as he struggled and went through this painful journey and as he began to heal. I would never wish for anyone to have to go down the road Pops had to go down, but thankfully God held onto him and allowed him to rest and heal his body so he could get through this. As of yesterday, Tuesday, he was taken off the ventilator, the feeding tube and they also backed down on some of his meds. As of a few minutes ago when I asked Rhett how he is doing today he said he got to talk to his dad on the phone and he was eating lunch!!!! Just how amazing is our God?! It just makes me smile to know that the Lord is watching over us and will always do what is best for us and that he does it in His own timing...we just have to be patient. Patience is not always something that comes easy! Rhett has been a very strong son, husband and father during this hard time. He worked and went to see his dad in the time that he was away from work. I would do the same thing for my dad if it were me. I know he is exhausted and so ready to see his dad at home or better yet, visiting with him out at the ball fields! Many prayers were said for him as he had to go visit his dad and see him through this. What an amazing husband I have! Honey, I love you and am so very thankful for you and for your family!
MAY ALL THE GLORY BE TO GOD!!!!! We love you Pops and are so glad you are on the road to recovery!
